Description

White Salvia is a compact tender perennial (Zones 8-10), typically grown as an annual. Highly floriferous, the well-branched plant blooms continuously from early summer to mid-fall, possibly to first frost. Whorls of two-lipped white flowers are borne on slender stems. Nectar and pollen rich, the long-lasting flowers attract pollinators, including bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, and make excellent cuts for flower arrangements, fresh and dried.

A Salvia farinacea species, commonly called salvia or mealycup sage, Evolution White is a vigorous, shrubby herbaceous plant with a compact, rounded, clump-forming habit of fragrant leaves. Shown to best effect when mass planted, its compact form is perfect for patio pots, mixed beds, and the front to middle of a sunny perennial border.

Cold hardy, trouble free, and easy to grow, mealycup sage grows best in a sunny to partly shady location with evenly moist, well-drained soil. Deadheading spent flowers encourages additional blooms. Cut back plants after flowering has finished. Plants are not preferred by deer and rabbits.

Start seeds indoors 10 to 12 weeks before the last frost date and transplanted after all threat of frost has passed.
